IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN" " " " I Christopher Bustin of the parish of portsmouth in
the county of Norfolk and State of Virginia House Joiner being sick and weak in
Body but of sound mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my Body and that
it is appointed once for all Men to die, do make this my last will and Testament
in manner and form following Viz. First and principally I resign my soul to Al-
mighty God that gave it and my Body to the dust from whence it came, to be buried
in a christian manner at the descretion of my executors then after my just debts
and funeral expences are paid I give and bequeath to my loving wife Martha Bustin
the house and plantation in the parish of Portsmouth whereon I now live with all
and every the moveables belonging to me, with three negroes by the names of little
Abby, Simon and Abe, for her life and at her decease the same shall be the property
and be equally divided between Thomas, Benjamin, Martha, Mary, Sarah, Lucy, sons
and daughters of Martha Bustin or the survivors.----

Item I give to my son William Bustin one half Lot in the Borough of Norfolk with
two negroes named Phillis and Gim when he comes of age and to his Heirs and her
increase.
I give and bequeath to my son John Bustin the other Half lot in the Borough of Nor-
folk with a negro wench named Mirah and her increase from the date hereof when he
arrives to the age of twenty one years and to his heirs.--
I give and bequeath to my son Christopher Bustin half lot of ground in the town of
portsmouth with a negro called Primus when he comes to the age of twenty one.---
and to his heirs.-------
I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Bustin the other half lot in the town of Ports-
mouth with a negro named Harry when he arrives at the age of twenty one years and
his heirs.----
I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin a lot of ground in Gosport with a negro named
Cato when he arrives at the age of twenty one years and to his Heirs.-----
I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Bustin one negro girl named Hannah with her
increase from the date hereof when she comes of age and to her Heirs.-----
I give and bequeath to my daughter Martha Bustin one negro wench and her Increase from
the date hereof when she comes to age and to her heirs named Barbary.---
I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Bustin one negro wench named big Abby and
her increase from the date hereof when she comes of age and to her Heirs.----
I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Bustin one negro girl named Rose and her
increase from the date hereof when she comes of age, and to her Heirs.-----
I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Bustin one negro girl named Dinah and her
increase from the date hereof when she comes to age and to her heirs.-----
I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Bustin one negro Boy named Broomfield and seven
hundred and forty nine acres land lying in Franklin county North Carolina but if
Samuel should die before he comes of Age I give the said land and negro between my
sons William, John, Christopher, and my daughter Ann Bustin and their heirs & to be
equally divided.-----
I will and desire that the three hundred and twenty acres of land I have on Nuse in
North Carolina should be sold at the discretion of my executors for specie the money
to be put to interest and equally divided between William, Ann, John, and Christopher
or the survivors of them when they come of age, also one hundred and forty three acres
at the head of the western Branch to be sold when William comes of age & to be equally
divided as aforesaid. I will and desire that if any or either of my children viz.
William, John, Christopher, Thomas, Ann, Martha, Mary, Sarah and Lucy, should die be-
fore they come of age their dividend or dividends shall be sold for the equal benefit
of the survivors of the above named four children of my first Wife.----
LASTLY I nominate and appoint my loving wife Martha Bustin my executrix and my worthy
friends Green Hill on Tar River North Carolina, and Thomas Crafts of the town of Ports
mouth my executors of thes my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills
by me made and declearing this only for the same. In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of January one thousand seven hundred and Eighty
four.----

At a Court held for Norfolk County the 19th day of february 1784. This last Will and
testament of Christopher Bustin deceased was this day proved by the oath of Thomas Lillo
William Bustin and Edward Bustin and ordered to be recorded; Martha Bustin executrix
therein named (Thomas Crafts one of the executors also therein named refuses to qualify
haveing first taken the oath and given Bond and security according to law: A certificate
for obtaining a probat is granted her on the said Will.----
