I highly recommend Tex Smith How to Build Chrysler Plymouth Dodge Hot Rods. There is a couple of chapters dedicated to the early hemis. This book was written back in 1990 when rebuild parts were hard to find. Things are some what better now since all the renewed interest in early hemi's. Published by Motorbooks International.
